The 2019 Kirchentag celebration organised by the Protestant church in Germany takes place in Dortmund this year and many from the Diocese will make their way to join in, says Archdeacon of Pontefract, Peter Townley.
“It’s a great experience!" he said.
“Thousands of people of all ages go to this bi-annual celebration not only from Germany, but from across the world.
“There’s lots to see and take part in and an opportunity to hear world class speakers,” said Peter, a seasoned visitor.
In 2017 Bishop of Leeds Nick Baines (right) and Bishop Jonathan Gibbs, the Area Bishop of Huddersfield, spoke at the four day event which was based in Berlin and attended by former US President Barack Obama?.
Organised by the Deutscher Evangeli?scher Church, some 150,000 Christians took part in celebratory events in Berlin, Leipzig, Halle, Erfurt and Wittenburg.
A meeting for anyone interested in going to this year's event will take place at Church House, Leeds on Tuesday, February 12.
