The Sun shone on 1700 young people and their leaders from across the diocese and region who took part in the annual Big Night Out at Lightwater Valley Theme Park near Ripon last weekend (Saturday May 14).
Groups, both large and small came from across the region including Grimsby to the East, Doncaster to the South, Todmorden to the West and Morpeth to the North.
More than four hours of theme park rides were enhanced by a Big Picnic with entertainment and dancing led by Jason Mains and Neon Nation.
This year's Chair, Diocese of York Youth Officer, Nigel Chapman, said: “From what I'm hearing and certainly from what I was feeling on Saturday, Big Night Out this year was probably one of the best. I want to add my voice to all those who are saying thank you for such a brilliant day.”
During the picnic a "Thy Kingdom Come" video was made to send to the Archbishops. You can see the video here or by clicking on the picture below left..
In addition, adult and young leaders were able to be look at resources for youth work at an exhibition of local and national Christian organisations.
Manchester Christian band, BrightLine, headlined the Final Evening Concert playing a selection of their own songs and encouraged the audience to sing along to a well-known Justin Bieber number.
The event is organised by a partnership of the Diocese of West Yorkshire & The Dales, York Diocese, The Methodist Church, The Boys Brigade, Scripture Union, The Girls Brigade, and Urban Saints.
