Join the Community of All Saints: Bishop Tony\'s vision for Wakefield

Bishop Tony called on people to join the new Community of All Saints and start to live out simple rules of life based on the three core messages of pray, grow and act.

And the sun shone!

Over 200 people joined the Bishop of Wakefield to picnic in the grounds of the Cathedral Academy School on Sunday lunchtime with entertainment by Micky Bimble and his circus skills before they processed the 1.5miles into the city to join another 250-plus people who gathered together for worship, song and drama at Wakefield Cathedral.

It was the culmination of the Bishop of Wakefield’s Come and See initiative which started at the beginning of the year and he used the opportunity to launch his new vision: to create the Community of All Saints to those gathered there urging them to think and pray about becoming part of a worshipful, prayerful and active community of Christians.

The commissioning service for the new Community of All Saints is on Nov 1 in Wakefield Cathedral at 7.30pm with a youth event planned for 11 to 17 years olds in the Cathedral on Friday October 14 from 7 til 11 pm.

Said Bishop Tony: “Our 'Come and See' event on Pentecost Sunday was a first for the Wakefield Area. Following a picnic lunch at The Cathedral Academy and walk to the Cathedral, I was pleased and privileged to be joined by over 450 people who had come together for a Celebration of the Gifts of the Holy Spirit.

“At the service I was able to announce the creation of 'The Community of All Saints' open to all members of the area making a simple rule of life around three core principles of Prayer, Growing and Learning and living out the Gospel: Pray, Grow, Act,” he said.
