Jorvik experts in Leeds for memorials training

Recording Church Memorials workshop at Leeds Minster

MemorialArchaeologists from the York Archaeological Trust, who run the JORVIK Viking Centre and monument specialists associated with Leeds Minster are leading a workshop on the techniques involved in recording church monuments.

Participants will explore the variety of monuments at the Minster and try their hand at a range of recording techniques including photography and 3D photogrammetry. Staff from the Diocesan Advisory Committee for the Care of Churches will be on hand to discuss church monument projects.

The workshop takes place on Wednesday 23rd May and is organised as part of Jorvik’s ‘Church Explorers’, a summer Festival which celebrates the region’s church heritage. Places on the workshop are limited and are offered free of charge to churches in the Leeds Diocese with a maximum of two participants per parish. For more information about the festival and to book on this free workshop, contact Jorvik on churchexplorers@yorkat.co.uk or ring 01904 615504.
