Bishop Toby Howarth joined in celebrations to mark 250 years of young people ringing out good news from All Saints', Bingley.
The parish church, now blessed with a striking new pathway, was packed with worshippers for a special Eucharist which also saw the licensing of Revd Ruth Dowson as assistant priest to vicar Martyn Weaver.
"This was a most public celebration of faith as the bells rang out across Bingley and also a time to celebrate Ruth's role, not just at All Saints', but also her work as a senior lecturer on events management at Leeds Beckett University.
"It was a very impressive day, with tours of the roof and young people trying out bell ringing, plus everyone shared in a delicious lunch," Bishop Toby said.
The 250th anniversary of The Bingley Youths - pealing since 1768 - coincided with St George's Day with many young people from uniformed organistations amongst the congregation.
