Kings and angels gather for a DIY nativity

Multitudes of Kings, angels, Marys, Josephs and many other nativity characters took part in the first ever DIY Nativity at Christ Church in South Ossett.

Visitors to the Sunday Christmas service, rather than watching a traditonal nativity performance, were encouraged to come in fancy dress as their Christmas character of choice. The nativity story was then retold by a narrator who took the audience on a journey around different areas in the church, set up to replicate the nativity scenes portrayed in the Bible.

The Revd David Robertson, incumbent at South Ossett, who narrated the story said, "It's a great opportunity for everyone to join in and take part, so that the nativity is a whole church nativity."

The service also included a variety of prayers and a performance by the Christ Church childrens groups.
