Knit and Natter group put needles to good use this winter

NEEDLES are flying at the Christ Church, Linthwaite and St Barnabas, Crosland Moor’s weekly Knit and Natter Group get busy knitting hats and scarves to support The Welcome Centre, a crisis centre and food bank in the town.

The Welcome Centre, based in Lord St, Huddersfield offers practical support, including food, toiletries, bedding, household items and warm clothes to individuals and families in crisis in the south Kirklees area.

The people they help are facing job loss, debt and eviction, homelessness, fleeing violence, have drug or alcohol problems or are struggling with mental or physical health issues, younger people and asylum seekers and other problems.

The Revd Ann Broxham, Deacon at Christ Church and St Barnabas, said the Centre was doing a tremendous job supporting all those families who find themselves in need.

Said Ann: “We have been collecting and supporting the work of The Welcome Centre for some time now and realizing how cold it can get as the nights draw in, we thought we’d start making some hats and scarves in the Knit and Natter group to try and help this winter.”

The group are also busy knitting a Nativity set for a Nativity festival to be held at Christchurch Linthwaite and St Barnabas Crosland Moor on 6th Dec.
