Leeds pilgrimage for climate change

In the run-up to the world leaders’ climate change talks in Paris, people in Leeds will be joining thousands around the world who are taking part in a People’s Pilgrimage with their own People's Pilgrimage for Leeds.

At 10am on 28 November, people will set off from the four corners of the city and then join together for a service at Leeds Minster at 12.30pm. A civic Peoples’ Climate March will then set off from outside the Minster at 1.30pm en route for City Square where there'll be a people's rally at 3pm. Everyone is welcome to come from any of the four corners of the city and get the bus back (see routes below).

The C of E’s Pilgrimage2Paris leaves London on 13 November.

Diocesan Environment Officer, Jemima Parker, says, "Many Christian leaders acknowledge the importance of keeping global warming below a 2 degree rise. In their Statement of Faith spiritual leaders have called for just outcomes at the Paris talks. And the Cof E has issued a simple 'Paris Primer' about the talks.

"But it’s not just our political leaders who need to take action. To change everything we need everyone! So please pray, and come to any of the many events listed below that are taking place in the diocese over the next couple of months".

Prayer
To pray for the Paris talks, the Pray and Fast website has useful resources. A special service could be held on Advent Sunday (29 November) to pray for climate justice and hold the planet before God. You could also use the A Rocha Advent Calendar to guide you up to Christmas.
