Les Mis for Lent in Wakefield

The world famous musical based on the French classic, Les Miserables is the basis of one Wakefield church’s Lent programme this year.

Crofton Church started its Lent reflection last Saturday (March 4) with a screening of the 2012 film of Victor Hugo’s Les Miserables starring Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe and Ann Hathaway.

Another Story Must Begin is the weekly Lent course based on Les Miserables and runs every Monday at 7pm in the church at the top of the High Street.

The vicar of Crofton and the parish of Warmfield, Kirkthorpe and Heath, the Revd Louise Tinniswood explained that the themes and characters of this epic story are used to help explore God’s grace, our fallen state and redemption and ask us to reassess what we can do with our lives, both for ourselves and for others.

Refreshments are served and everyone is welcome. The next session is Monday March 20 at 7pm.
