Wakefield Cathedral is asking for people to help them light up the Cathedral with candlelight to say thank you to mum this Mothering Sunday.
The Dean and Chapter want to create a candlelit celebration for the whole family with a special short service on Mothering Sunday from 6pm to 6.30pm
Candles are available from the Cathedral shop on which you can write the name of who you want to give thanks for and cost £1 each. They should be returned to the Cathedral by the end of this Sunday (Mar 19) or early next week and will be used to light up the Cathedral for the service next Sunday (March 26).
The Dean, the Very Revd Jonathan Greener, said: “We always have a service on Mothering Sunday but this year we wanted to open our doors to the whole community and encourage everyone to come and say thank you for their mum, grandmother, step mum, foster mum anyone who is mum to you.
“The service will last half an hour and it is a chance to say thank you for our mums and to remember those mums who are not with us today,” he added,
