For the third year, All Saints Bingley has led a dramatic ‘Live Nativity’ through the streets of the town, with local actors from different churches and denominations in the area.
Produced by Judith Smith and organised by Yvonne Jones, the Nativity moved from a shopping centre, via two local pubs to Bingley Arts Centre.
Bad weather affected some of this year’s scenes…high winds meant that Herod’s canopy couldn’t be erected and the heavy rain put the sheep which would normally be present at risk of pneumonia.
But the show went on as Mary Joseph and Ben the donkey walked from the Five Rise Shopping centre, where the story of the Annunciation was enacted , down Main Street, via the pubs to the Butter Market.
Sets, costumes and scenery where created by local members of All Saints along with Holy Trinity , Bingley United Reform Church and The Eldwick Church. Along the route appropriate carols were sung by a small choir .
Organiser, Yvonne Jones said, “This is all part of All Saint’s outreach and we hope that some members of the crowd that followed will eventually make their way to one of the churches taking part this Christmas, or in the future.”
