A church in Barnsley have run a week- long mixed mode mission online and in person this October.
St George’s Church Barnsley ran the mission week after having planed it for over a year, supported by Through Faith Mission.
The original plan was that some 50 team members from Through Faith Mission would come to the churches in the Central Barnsley Benefice to work alongside them in a week long mission.
The COVID-19 pandemic put a stop to this, but St George’s Barnsley felt that it could still be possible to run a mission with the current restrictions.
A small 3 man team came from Through Faith Missions to work alongside the St George’s congregation, with lots of the mission being done online through St George’s’ Facebook page.
The Through Faith Missions team produced short videos around well-known Bible stories for St George’s’ young people.
They also hosted a Question Time type event via Zoom, asking about faith and spirituality, alongside in-person at-a-distance conversations happening on the streets in the town centre.
The teams doing this were made up of people from Through Faith Missions and members of the St George’s congregation, and the whole mission was well received everywhere they went, with important and deep conversations being had.
