A second caravan offering free breaks on the beautiful North Yorks coast has been declared open by Mothers’ Union Chaplain, Ven Peter Townley, Archdeacon of Pontefract.
He led prayers and blessed the latest upgraded MU caravan, which is at the highly-rated Primrose Valley site, close to Filey beach.
Twenty members visited the Holiday Park and celebrated the successful opening thanks to fundraising for Leeds Diocese Mothers’ Union’s AFIA (Away From It All) holiday scheme.
The magnificent sum of £26,000 was raised last year and Denise Barrett, AFIA Officer, reported that 22 family holidays are already
booked for the 2019 season.
MU Diocesan President Jean Thurman explained availability of the caravan:
“Clergy and others may recommend families who cannot themselves afford a week’s holiday.
“We were able to read the many Thank You cards received from the 2018 holiday families saying how much they appreciated the break away from routine such as these two examples:
‘Thank you for allowing us to use your caravan. Primrose valley is a fantastic place to stay and the caravan is amazing. All the facilities were excellent.
‘Can’t thank Mothers’ Union enough for this opportunity. Having never had a holiday, this was needed. Thank you for allowing us to spend time away as a family and bring our boys to the seaside to make memories.’”
