Bishop Tony and our Tanzania link officer, the Revd Dr Stephen Spencer, have just returned from Mara diocese where they attended the consecration of the new bishop, George Okoth. There were around 4,000 people in and around the cathedral on Sunday, including the former Bishop of Mara, Bishop Hilkiah and his wife, Martha who said they were very pleased that his successor was now in place.
The new bishop, George, comes from Mara but has been working in theological colleges elsewhere in the country for a number of years.
The consecration service lasted five and a half hours and the installation service on Monday lasted a further four hours!
Bishop Tony preached at the installation and re-committed our diocese to working shoulder to shoulder with George and his diocese in the years ahead.
