The Revd James Milnes has been appointed as Chaplain to the David Young Community Academy in Seacroft.
Formerly Rector of Alderley and Birtles in the Diocese of Chester, he was welcomed at a service at the school attended by Bishop Paul Slater (left), Archdeacon Paul Hooper, local clergy and local MP Richard Burgon.
James says, “It’s an amazing privilege to be the chaplain for 1000 children and staff. I really value the diocese’s support and their strong desire that the Church should touch lives for good at the school - as well as their creative ideas about how ministry at the school could take shape.
"I’m also grateful to all the local priests from Seacroft and further afield who came to the service – it was an appreciated gesture of solidarity in our united work for the Church in East Leeds."
James trained for the ministry at Westcott House, Cambridge and at St Chad's College, Durham. He says, “I also had two incredibly formative years working for the Church overseas - a year in Paris and a year in the Seychelles. I want to share my experiences with the children and encourage them to fulfil their potential.
“God has blessed me with this appointment and I trust I will be a blessing to the children and staff of the David Young Community Academy”.
