New toilets and catering facilities at St Aidan's, Skelmanthorpe have brought it bang up to date and ready for a bright future.
The self-funded scheme included two toilets, one with disabled access and a fresh kitchen with servery.
Other works at the same time included levelling floors and repositioning the font to a more prominent spot.
And successfully travelling from old to new was clearly on Bishop Jonathan Gibbs mind, who said:
"My first reaction on seeing the new kitchen at St Aidan’s in Skelmanthorpe was to say “This is like the Tardis!” because it seems so much bigger inside than it looks from the outside.
"That is particularly appropriate of course because Skelmanthorpe is the home of the new Doctor Who, Jodie Whittaker!" said Bishop Jonathan, following a blessing service.
"Huge congratulations are due to everyone concerned with the project, including the architect for a beautifully executed scheme which greatly enhances the church’s facilities and opportunities for mission.
"Most especially congratulations to the members of the PCC and the congregation for having the vision to launch the project and the commitment to see it through.
"The people of St Aidan’s have a real desire to reach out to and serve the community in this lovely village, and I know they will work together now to do that in fresh ways that
will be a huge boost for the future of the church.
"The combination of a super kitchen, excellent loos and brilliant level access is fantastic. Well done to everyone involved - and to anyone else who is thinking how to do this kind of thing, do go along and have a look!" He said.
Victoria Cox, one of the churchwardens, said the new servery will better enable them to run popular events such as coffee mornings and Messy Churches and plan for bigger future events.
Diocesan Advisory Committee Secretary Lisa McIntyre, right, commented: "We're delighted to hear about happy endings - and St Aidan's worked through different issues to make this happen.
"Congratulations to them and the DAC is keen to help any parish planning such works or with any questions about their buildings."
