The newly-approved Diocesan Strategy was rolled out to members of the Wakefield Area Forum this week.
"Wakefield Cathedral was packed!" Said Bishop Tony Robinson.
Andrew Norman, director of Ministry and Mission, ran through the new document which was agreed by Synod last month and contains the following five goals:
1. Thriving as a distinctive diocese, whose culture is shaped by a shared vision and values
2. Reimagining ministry
3. Nurturing lay discipleship
4. Building leadership pathways
5. Growing young people as Christians
"It was a really positive evening," Andrew said.
"170 people attended from three deaneries in the area and the emphasis was on ‘rolling our sleeves up’ to engage with the strategy and try out the accompanying toolkit for parishes."
Diocesan Chief Financial Officer, Geoff Park also spoke at the meeting and added:
“There seemed to be a really good energy in the room as people discussed the Diocesan Strategy.
“It was great to spend the evening at the Wakefield Area Forum and to share where we are with Diocesan finances.
"I hope people found it engaging and informative.”
