New ecumenical partnership keeps vulnerable in Masham supplied

A new ecumenical support group in Masham is keeping vulnerable folk in the area well fed and supplied.
Masham’s Shopping Angels are a small band of volunteers who collect and deliver food, prescriptions and pet supplies, made up of clergy from St Mary the Virgin Church and Masham Methodist Church.
Revd Sian Lawton, curate for the Masham Group of Parishes, said: “Masham and the surrounding area has a large percentage of vulnerable people in the population, who are now self-isolating, and we wanted to make sure they were supported and could eat normally in this very not normal time.
“That’s why our churches have joined together with the Methodists to make sure people have what they need; meat from the butcher’s, vegetables from the greengrocer’s, food from the supermarket and other essentials like prescriptions.”
The joint partnership between the Anglican and Methodist churches now has a team of some 20 volunteers to make sure these supplies are delivered to those in need.
