New resources put environment at heart of worship

Caring for creation continues to be at the heart of the church this Lent, with the Diocese of Leeds’ new environment worship resources.
‘Elements of Worship’ for Ruth Valerio’s Saying Yes to Life has been written and compiled by Christine Jack, Leeds Diocesan Environmental task group member, and provides reflections for Lent 2020, making a central focus the season’s relationships with ourselves, with God, with others, the earth and the rest of the life community.
Jemima Parker, Diocesan Enviroment Officer, said: “As we move through Lent these worship resources will help us all reflect on God as creator and redeemer of the whole of His creation.
“They beautifully complement the Archbishop of Canterbury’s Lent book Saying Yes to Life by Dr Ruth Valerio, or can be used independently of this.”
The resources aim to widen our perspective to a broader context of God’s interaction with the world, and develop our understanding of salvation and creation and of how salvation and creation are held together.
They are in addition to the Church of England’s own daily Lent resources, as part of the #LiveLent campaign, which provides 40 challenges, topics for thought and prayers to help those taking part along the journey of Caring for God’s Creation.
