St John’s Wakefield is exploring new ways of praying as part of their prayer events for Thy Kingdom Come.
The wave of prayer started at St John’s with the Ascension Day service at Wakefield Cathedral and the church is open for prayer every day from 12noon to 2pm.
Prayer stations for all ages have been set up round the church to help focus prayers and to encourage new and different ways of praying and there are different service styles on offer too during the week such as Taize style and Compline.
Prayer walks took place over the Bank Holiday Weekend on Saturday and Monday and the wave of prayer will conclude when St John’s join Wakefield Cathedral for the diocesan beacon event for Thy Kingdom Come on Sunday which starts with contemplation at the prayer stations at 2.30pm before moving into a celebration service at 3.30pm with our Diocesan Bishop, Bishop Nick.
