Night Shelter for Destitute Asylum Seekers to be run from Leeds churches. Can you help?

Meeting on 2 September, 6-8pm, Leeds Church Institute, 20 New Market Street, Leeds, LS1 6DG

West Yorkshire Destitute Asylum Network work with people seeking sanctuary across West Yorkshire providing emergency food, shelter and support.

Given the unprecedented demand for their services, they have decided to set up an emergency night shelter for destitute asylum seekers, which will be run with an Inn Churches model from churches across Leeds.

They are looking for churches who are willing to provide a week of accommodation over the winter period, hosting destitute asylum seekers from 5pm – 8am each night. For participating churches, full support and training will be given. They are also looking for individual volunteers and donations of food, toiletries, a bed bundle (£75) or any donations of cash.

You are invited to an open meeting to discuss their plans further (2 September, 6-8pm, Leeds Church Institute, 20 New Market Street, Leeds, LS1 6DG). There will be speakers from Inn Churches and destitute asylum seekers will talk about their experiences.

If you are able to attend the meeting, or would like further information, please contact: contact.wydan@gmail.com
