Two churchwardens and a Reader from the Ripon Episcopal Area are among those who will be travelling to Buckingham Palace later this spring to receive their medals after been named in the New Year’s Honours List, 2016.
Paul Chubb, (pictured left), a Reader in Lower Swale and Chair of Governors at the Dales School, Morton-on-Swale has been awarded the MBE for services to career education and guidance.
Paul was until recently executive director of Careers England, and still retains strong links with quality assurance of career education and guidance in schools through his role as Director for the Quality in Careers Standard.
Paul said, “I’m absolutely thrilled to receive the MBE, which I feel is as much a celebration of the work carried nationally to promote quality assured career education & guidance for England’s school and college students.”
An MBE has been awarded to Priscilla Kealy who has served for more than 40 years as churchwarden at North Stainley church. She received the honour for services to the community of Ripon, having given outstanding service to the almshouse residents and historic chapels of Ripon, as well as 33 years as a magistrate in the cathedral city. She also finds time to work on the committee of the local Red Cross and as a contributor to Yoredale News. She is also a governor of North Stainley School.
Priscilla said she was taken aback at receiving notification from the Cabinet Office. “My work has been tremendously enjoyable and I’ve been very lucky having the time to do it and the husband and family around me to do it,”
The BEM (British Empire Medal) has been awarded to former churchwarden at Kirklington, John Fall (pictured right). He was awarded the honour for services to the community of Kirklington. A retired farmer, John served as Churchwarden at St Michael’s Kirklington for no less than 50 years.
