People of Kirby Hill gather for a day of fun and celebration

Over a hundred people of all ages came together for the Kirby Hill Village Day that took place on Sunday 17th June.

Those in attendance shared in an open air Songs of Praise on the church green at All Saint's Kirby Hill. More came to join in the Big Lunch later on in the day where there was an incredible spread laid out to enjoy.  There was also a quiz, displays in the church and traditional team games, like croquet, were enjoyed by all ages.

The village church, All Saint's Kirby Hill, and school were both heavily involved throughout the day. For example, children from Kirby Hill C of E Primary School sang and led a hymn for those who came. A member of the local army regiment (pictured right), 6 Regiment RLC, also spoke the reading during a service. A collection was also made and is to be divided between Dementia Forward and St Michael's Hospice, two local charities which many people in the area benefit from.

Revd Alison Askew, vicar of Kirby Hill, said "New friendships were made, old ones renewed and we all left with a sense of how important it is to help build community. A good day was had by all."
