More than 300 people joined together at Sutton Park in Sutton in Craven between Skipton and Keighley for an afternoon of praise and singing at the weekend. The sun shone for ‘Praise in the Park' which brought together people of all ages accompanied by the sound of brass mixed with contemporary worship.
The Songs of Praise style event was organised by churches in Crosshills and district. Local people had voted for their favourite hymns, and the top choices were sung on the day.
The sun shone and as well as hymn singing, led by the Chris Waddington and Friends Band, the event featured local community band ‘Sutton’s Got Brass’, and a choir made up of children from five local primary schools: Sutton CE, Sutton CP, Kildwick CE, Cowling CP and Eastburn J&I.
The Revd Rob Harris, minister of South Craven Baptist Church, said, “This was a fantastic community event, enjoyed by young and old alike.”
The Revd Helen Collings, Vicar of Sutton with Cowling & Lothersdale, said, “We want to thank the children and teachers from our local schools, and the members of Sutton’s Got Brass, for all their hard work. Their contributions helped make this event really special.”
