Prayer is at the heart of this year’s series of teachings in Barnsley for Lent.
The five week course will take place every Wednesday in St Mary’s church in the centre of town and starts at 7pm.
The Revd Mother Mary Luke of the Community of the Holy Cross, an Anglican Benedictine Religious community living in the East Midlands, will deliver the first teaching on Praying Throughout the day: The Divine Office on Wednesday 8 March.
Fr Oswin Gartside, Prior of the Community of the Resurrection in Mirfield, will ask What is Prayer on Wednesday 15 March.
On Wednesday 22nd March, Father Damian Humphries OSB Priest at Holy Rood Catholic Church in Barnsley will look at Lectio Divina – Praying with the Bible.
On Wednesday 29th March, the Rev’d Kristen Markay, a Methodist Minister in the Barnsley Circuit will discuss the The Jesus Prayer and the final week of Lent will hear Fr Brain Bell, the vicar of St Paul’s Monk Bretton on The Rosary.
Everyone is welcome. Teachings start at 7pm.
