Prayer vigil at St Catherine\'s

A 24 hour prayer vigil was held at St Catherine’s Church Centre over the weekend to pray for all those caught up in terror attacks at home and across the world and for those affected by the Grenfell Tower fire.

The church opened its doors at 9pm on Friday evening and there was a steady stream of people over the 24 hours.

Centre manager, Lisa Grant said: “Hundreds of prayers were said for our community, for individuals and for our world.

And at 9pm on Saturday night – just as the prayer vigil came to a close – these trails appeared above the church centre on Doncaster Road, Wakefield.

On Monday two young people from Silcoates School were so inspired by the homeless they saw during a school trip to Paris that they returned home and began to research homelessness and food poverty in the UK. They turned up at St Catherine’s on Monday with 30 boxes of food and other necessities and a cheque for £849!
