Remembering our loved ones at Christmas

Remembering loved ones at Christmas has always been a tradition at St Peter's Church in Huddersfield.

And the Remembrance Tree went up in the town centre church on Advent Sunday to be decorated by members of the public with stars and red tags as a mark of respect and to remember loved ones who have died in years past.

Anyone can call in anytime throughout December and write a name and attach it to the tree and a list of names will be compiled in the New Year to be prayed for at a special service on Sunday 3rd January at 3pm.

The vicar, the Revd Simon Moor said: "This time can be difficult for many of us who have lost loved ones over the years.

"The tree is already filling up with tags and names and it is there for anyone to add to throughout this Christmas time.

"And at the service on Sunday January 3rd we will remember every one of those named, pray for them and there will be an opportunity to light a candle too," he added.

Everyone who calls into St Peter’s is invited to add names and come along to the service of remembrance.
