A photo competition is returning this July to celebrate Christian life, great and small, across the Diocese of Leeds.
“Responding with Hope” is the theme of the fun project, which coincides with the summer holidays and aims to generate a fantastic gallery of people and places of worship.
The competition was run for the second time last year and was a great success. Pictures from different contexts were submitted, making the final decision for the top three very tricky.
From Monday, July 20 it is open to everyone and the best picture will star on our website and online newsletter.
Images can be posted either on our Camera Club Facebook page or by emailing the diocesan communications team.
We want to see pictures from any event which has a Christian presence and reflects the innovation, love and support that the church has shown during the covid-19 pandemic, be that online worship, private prayers, socially distanced weddings or providing support for those in need.
And of course, our diocese is blessed with a huge variety of church architecture, from tiny Dales chapels to magnificent cathedrals, and pictures of those are welcome too.
When submitting posed images of people, and especially children, on church property, data protection regulations (GDPR) require permission from those featured, or from the parents or guardians of under 18s.
However images taken of adults in public spaces for artistic purposes – such as street or crowd scenes – do not require the permission of all those pictured.
Please send in your pictures by joining the Leeds CofE Camera Club closed group Facebook page. The address for the Camera Club on Facebook is: Leeds CofE Camera Club. If you are a new member, please wait for your joining request to be accepted and when posting please use the hashtag #RespondingwithHope
Alternatively you can email your images in. Please use the following address and state your name and where the image was taken - communications@leeds.anglican.org
The competition will close on September 1.
