Ripon Christians beat the bounds on a sweltering Bank Holiday

A prayerful walk to “beat the bounds” around Ripon took place over the scorching August Bank holiday, organised by worshippers at the city’s Holy Trinity church.

Revd Chris Butler, Vicar of Holy Trinity, hit on the idea of the ecumenical 10 mile walk along the Sanctuary Way with the emphasis on prayer in the great outdoors.

The six hour walk starting at 8.30am at Ripon Cathedral’s Morning Service, where the group of ramblers were met by the cathedral’s Canon Barry Pyke, who has responsibility for rural engagement and education.

The parish areas covered Holy Trinity and the cathedral account for the whole city in geography

The walkers made their way to the Walled Garden on West Tanfield Road for lunch before continuing to complete the sun-soaked and spiritual ramble.
