Santa Run couple to wed with a church blessing on the hoof

Fun-running couple Wendy Lawson and Alex Griffin are to marry en route as they take part in this year's Skipton Santa Fun Run at the end of the month.

Both from Ingleton, they have have chosen Sunday, November 25 - Alex’s birthday - which falls on the day of the run.

That same evening the Christmas lights are switched on in Skipton.

Wendy said: “I have taken part in several Skipton Santa Fun Runs in the past. This one is extra special, as I start the run/walk as Wendy Lawson and finish it as Wendy Griffin - after a slight detour from the canal path to Skipton Registry Office.”

The couple are also getting married in their Santa outfits, followed by a blessing on the Sunday at Holy Trinity Church.

"I'm delighted to be able to share with Alex and Wendy on their special day," said Revd Veronica James of Holy Trinity.

"To come into the Church will provide them with a sense of wonder as we share together with carols and readings.

"Having been approached to offer a wedding blessing for them in the afternoon following the Santa Run, we would all like to offer them sincere best wishes for their day and their future life together."
