Historic England has launched a second emergency grant fund which could benefit churches in our diocese.

The maximum amount which can be applied for is £25,000 and the closing date for expressions of interest is June 28, 2020.

It is open to Grade I and II buildings, and under limited circumstances to Grade II buildings. Places of worship are eligible.

Diocesan Advisory Committee Secretary Lisa McIntyre said:

“Many of us will be looking with fresh eyes at our church buildings, where generations have gathered together for worship.

“Grants such as these are incredibly welcome to help finance the works necessary to safeguard our irreplaceable buildings and ensure that they remain an asset for congregations and communities. “There are many churches in our diocese who should definitely look into applying.”

Becky Nicholson of our Stewardship and Income Generation Team said: ‘We recommend that all PCCS of listed places of worship take a look at the guidance to check their eligibility.

“We are here to give guidance on any faculties required, the grant criteria and assist you in wording your applications should you need us.”
