Sharing across faiths as hundreds enjoy church Eid party

St. Pauls’ Church in Manningham, Bradford, celebrated Eid and the end of the holy month of Ramadan for Muslims last week, by organising an Eid party in the churchEid at Manningham grounds for the local community complete with curry, sweets, a bouncy castle, and face painting.

Michelle Moyle the Sharakat outreach worker from St Paul’s Church was delighted with the response. She said: "We planned on a hundred people coming along but we had many more. We provided food but in typical generosity the Scones & Samosa church cooking group contributed by bringing along delicious curry, samosas and sweets, so there was enough for everyone."

The community enjoyed the new gardens that are being laid out with the outdoor story telling area proving very popular. Face and glitter painting for the children was a busy stall with parents finding Eid face paintinghard to recognise their own children.

The Reverend Sue Jennings, who was ordained just two weeks ago, and is assistant curate, enjoyed her first Eid party. "It was a wonderful community event with the church grounds proving so useful. I’ve done nothing but eat since I arrived here so I’m next on the bouncy castle!!"
