A performance by the newly formed Ripon Cathedral Youth Choir was one of the hi-lights of the annual Sights, Sounds and Stories of Ripon event at the weekend.
The Dean of Ripon, the Very Revd John Dobson, opened the event which saw a host of entertainment and activities at venues across the city.
In Ripon Cathedral itself, a Pop-up Café run by The Walled Garden company in the Cathedral’s south transept proved hugely popular selling home made cakes, soup and lunches. The cafe has a ‘plot to plate’ ethos using fruit and vegetables from the garden.
The Youth Choir sang a selection of different kinds of music including the song ‘For Everyone born’ which they sang at the installation of Bishop Helen-Ann Hartley last month.
There was an international flavour with the Anoka Youth Choir from Minnesota, while Ripon’s Morris Dancers and Betty Lupton’s Ladle Laikers also performed in the cathedral.
And 'stories' were provided by local residents who led story-telling in the Cathedral's Quire.
