St Paul's Manningham were asked to provide an unprecedented addition to the World Curry Festival in Lister Park last weekend - an English tea party!
Vicar of St Paul's, the Revd Alistair Helm, said, "I've worked with Zulfi Karim, the festival's organiser, on a number of projects so I was pleased when he asked us to provide something different for the curry festival.
"One of our Scones and Samosa team (where local women share recipes from their different traditions) came along and cooked fresh samosas and pakoras which proved really popular. The congregation baked cakes and Hughes Family Bakers in Shipley kindly donated 500 scones".
Outreach worker Michelle Moyle said: ‘Over two days there was hardly a moment when there wasn’t a queue! We placed out hundred of leaflets advertising church activities and they all disappeared. We hope we’re invited back next year as it was such fun.’
Alistair added: ‘There was a lovely atmosphere in the tent and we sat down and chatted about a variety of topics with the people who joined us. I was delighted that we were able to be at heart of such a fantastic event serving the community."
