Street Angels appeal for earthly support

Christians in Bradford who help keep people safe on the city’s night-time streets are calling out for more volunteers.
‘Bradford Street Angels’ was originally set up in 2007 by an Anglican priest to help keep the streets of the city centre safe.
They are a group of volunteers who work with the police, pubs, clubs and CCTV, patrolling the streets between 8pm and 2am on a Friday evening and sometimes on Saturdays. They have some 15 regular volunteers, and are looking to increase that number to allow them to serve the people of Bradford better.
No evening is the same and a patrol may find themselves ringing an ambulance for someone who has been attacked, providing warm clothes for a newly homeless person and ringing a taxi home for a 16-year-old boy.
A member Anne said: “I love being a Street Angel and feel it has opened a new window for me. I thoroughly recommend volunteering with the charity; it can be a life changing experience.”
They support and help a wide variety of people including: the homeless, children and young people, victims of crime, the mentally ill, those suffering drug and alcohol misuse and anyone who is alone and feels vulnerable.
New volunteers are always welcome. Find out more at www.bradfordstreetangels.org.uk or on Facebook: bradfordstreetangels or contact us at admin@bradfordstreetangels.org.uk.
