Telegraph and Argus invite churches to community initiative launch
Churches and groups across Bradford are being invited to take part in a new initiative from the city’s daily newspaper, the Telegraph and Argus.
The daily paper is launching a community news network and will be holding a launch event on Monday, October 9th, at the T and A’s head office, in Drake Street, Bradford. Representatives from churches and community groups are being invited to go along to the launch.
Writing to the diocese and other community groups, the new editor of the Telegraph and Argus, Nigel Burton said, “One of my priorities as editor is to include more local news and events in the pages of the T&A. However, even with the largest team of journalists dedicated to the West Yorkshire patch of any newspaper we can only do so much.
“We plan to set up a social group - both on-line and in the newspaper to help clubs, societies and organisation get seen by thousands of readers and hope you will join in.”
Training will also be provided, says Mr Burton, in writing press releases and Facebook posts.
“If your organisation has a publicity officer, that’s great, but if it doesn’t there’s no need to worry. … we will provide training for members of the community news network to help them craft perfect press releases and write pithy, interesting and informative news about their organisation and communities. “
The launch of the Community network is on Monday 9 October at 6.30pm Drake Street, Bradford.
