As part of their endeavours to draw the church and community together, St Saviour’s, Richmond Hill gave couples the chance to renew their wedding vows at a special service just before Valentine’s Day.
Interim parish priest, Father Darren Percival, says, “Six couples came for a blessing, and one couple renewed their vows. It was an uplifting afternoon - light hearted but with real meaning and a lovely celebration of the commitment the couples have made to each other.
"We all enjoyed it and we got through a lot of cake and Prosecco afterwards!"
The event was open to couples who got married at St Saviour’s as well as those who’d tied the knot elsewhere.
Darren adds, “Since I arrived here last April we’ve been trying to bring the church and the community together, and this was part of that.
“We don’t do a lot of weddings these days but I got in touch with everyone who had their banns of marriage read here recently.
“We hope to do it again, and I’d also like to try a wedding fayre, as the church is beautiful and this could be another way of engaging with the mission of LS9."
