Top chef joins line-up for Cathedral’s new springtime venture

Top local chef, Stephanie Moon (pictured left), of TV’s Great British Menu fame, will be at Ripon Cathedral in April for the opening of a  new Springtime event for the cathedral which will see the ancient building filled with gardening and food exhibitions,  Easter activities for children, and gardening and cookery demonstrations from experts.

The Food, Garden and Home Show will take place in the nave of Ripon Cathedral on Saturday 8 April, celebrating local food and produce, gardening and even demonstrations by birds of prey.

Professional gardener and broadcaster, Martin Fish (pictured right) will be demonstrating fruit, veg and herbs throughout the day and more than fifty local garden and food traders will have stalls throughout the medieval building with products from local Gin, country clothing, gardening ranges and gifts, local meats, to ice cream and homeware.

Consultant Chef to Rudding Park, Stephanie Moon, will be giving food demonstrations and offering special food tastings. The demonstrations will run throughout the day and can be  pre-booked in advance by visiting the Cathedral website, www.riponcathedral.org.uk/event/foodhomegardenshow/

The event is organised by the Ripon Cathedral Development Campaign and campaign and aims to build on the success of Christmas Gift and Food Fair, which raises money for major Cathedral projects.

Fundraising Events Officer, Molly Barrs says, “Why not bring the whole family to this fantastic Springtime event as there will be children’s activities running throughout the day including plant a Posy and decorating Easter Eggs. There will also be a bird of Prey in the Cathedral brought along from Thorp Perrow.

“Why not treat yourself to an Easter Afternoon Tea or a delicious sweet treat in the unique setting of Ripon Cathedral’s pop up café open all day. We are delighted to have the support from our Principle Business Partner CNG Ltd.”

The Food, Home & Garden Show will be open from 10am to 4.30pm on April 8 at Ripon Cathedral and entrance on the door is £2.  Tickets online for specialist demonstrations of food and gardening must be pre-booked online and cost £7 and include entry for the day.
