Revd Ann Challenger RIP
Revd Ann Challenger, assistant priest at St Augustine's and St Clement's Bradford, died in hospital on Friday 5th May.
Ann was well known in Undercliffe for her service in the community over decades. Born in Scarborough, Ann trained as a nurse and later worked as a residential social worker. A hallmark of her life was a concern for others.
One of those paying tribute to Ann's ministry and life is Revd Denise Poole who will be taking Ann's funeral "In her late 40s Ann was to discover Gods abiding presence and love shown in Christ. She trained for ordination - a huge leap - with a deep desire for all people, whoever they are, to be included, to find a welcome and to discover they are invited to feast at God's table. With a fantastic group of people at St Augustines, Ann launched 'One Bread' which Ann constantly described as open to all; a place to bake, chat, eat, support, pray. The Lord Mayor of Bradford said, 'Ann was a person who showed in her actions what it is to be a Christian'."
We pray for Ann's husband, Cliff, and her adult children Liam and Imogen.
Following a service at Scholemoor, there will be a 'celebration' service to remember Ann with thanksgiving St Augustine's on Monday 15th May at 2.30pm.
