The opening for worship for one of our churches was the lead news item on BBC Look North on Sunday.
TV cameras were at St Edmund’s, Roundhay, Leeds, to capture Revd Nigel Wright welcome some 80 worshippers into the specially prepared church after three months absence.
"It was super to be able to come together and worship in our much-loved church building and there was a wonderful sense of anticipation and excitement,” Revd Nigel said.
“It was strange having a seating capacity that could only manage, at best, half of our normal Sunday morning attendance of around 160 and not being able to have all our families with us.
“We celebrated the opening of the building and gave thanks for the NHS with congregation members sharing their experiences on the frontline, including the lead consultant for neonatal from the Leeds Teaching Hospitals and the lead consultant for ophthalmology and eye surgery from Bradford Teaching Hospitals.
“A huge amount of planning and preparation went into making sure all regulations and guidelines were adhered to and everyone was kept as safe as possible.
“The service was conducted and filmed, in such a way as to be as inclusive as possible to all our members who were watching the live stream from their homes."
