TV’s ‘A Vicar\'s Life’ – does it reflect reality in N.Yorks?

Revd David ClarkBBC 2 has recently started a new series called 'A Vicar's Life', following the ups and downs of parish life in rural Herefordshire.

Lifting the lid on the life of rural parishes has created interest  from the media in our own region, with rquestions being asked about whether it reflects the rality of being a rural vicar in the Ripon Episcopal Area which covers much of the Yorkshire Dales.

Premier Christian Radio has been asking if A Vicar’s Life is a realistic portrayal of life in the countryside for many rural clergy.

Premier’s Northern Correspondent Ian Britton met with the Revd David Clark (pictured above), Incumbent of Upper Wensleydale. The Benefice is made up of four churches in Askrigg, Hardraw, Hawes and Stalling Busk.

Vicar's LifeWhen David  moved to the area just over a year ago his first purchase was a Land Rover to help he get around this remote Pennine parish.

The Rev Dave, as the locals know him, shared with Premier his thoughts on the programme and some of his own reflections on rural ministry.  His interview went out on Friday 19 January and you can listen again here
