Two thousand young people and their leaders from churches across the north of England descended upon Lightwater Valley theme park last Saturday May 9 for The Big Night Out.
After an afternoon of enjoying the rides and picnicking together, the evening culminated in a high-energy open-air concert with the Christian rock band Cenacle. (pictured)
Now in its sixth year this has become the largest annual Christian youth event in the north, made possible by a working partnership of the Dioceses of York with West Yorkshire & the Dales, Urban Saints, Scripture Union, The Girls Brigade and The Boys Brigade.
"One attraction of the event is that churches with large groups, or those with only a few teenagers, can join in and bring friends to a large gathering that affirms the Christian faith", said Diocesan Youth advisor, Captain Nic Sheppard.
“Theme park rides and Christian rock bands may not be to everybody’s taste, but there was no shortage of takers enjoying the fun on Saturday” he added.
