The week of Prayer for Christian Unity runs from January 18-25, and resources, with input from the National Council of Christian Churches of Brazil (CONIC), are available at www.ctbi.org.uk/682.
Locally an annual edition of Unity Post has been published by the West Yorkshire Ecumenical Council (WYEC) and is available for download as a PDF here.
The front page of this year’s publication focuses on the Joint Ash Wednesday Act of Witness by church leaders being held on Wednesday 18 February in Leeds City Centre.
The Revd Dr Clive Barrett, Secretary of WYEC, writes, “There seems to be an atmosphere of narrow intolerance in society towards people of various nationalities and cultures, especially in the run-up to the general election. In contrast, West Yorkshire Church Leaders will come together in Leeds city centre to lead a united open-air procession of Christian witness to celebrate the diversity of our churches, cities and region.”
A flyer for the event is attached and Clive says, “Please promote this event in your own networks and encourage anyone who is available to come and join in this colourful and important procession. Bring your church banners, flags, or crosses.”
