A Lindley church warden is urgently looking for help to break the Guinness World Record for the biggest ever Beetle Drive within the next couple of months.
Neil Salmon, the deputy warden at St Stephen’s in Lindley, is organising for the most recorded people to play Beetle Drive in one place at one time, while also raising money for the Joseph Salmon Trust.
However, he is currently searching for a venue large enough to host the record attempt - it will need to have space for and have access to at least 100 tables and 400 chairs for Neil to be able to break this record.
Neil said, “We thought that by attempting to break the record we could bring churches and church schools across the Diocese together, raise money for charity and have lots of fun too!”
The record will hopefully take place between September and November and will unite over 400 members of churches from across the diocese.
The game is one that churches have historically been involved with and Neil has already held numerous Beetle Drives in St Stephen’s.
The game Beetle Drive involves four people and the aim is to end with the entire beetle drawn on a piece of paper. Each person rolls a dice and draws the body part that matches the number on the dice until the entire insect is drawn.
Neil has had official approval from the Guinness World Records to go forward with the record attempt, and he is now looking forward to it!
As well as breaking this record, Neil is hoping to raise a significant amount of money for the Joseph Salmon Trust which he founded with his wife after their child, Joseph, passed away in 2005.
The Trust is a small charity which offers financial assistance to people who are living in the Huddersfield and Mirfield areas and whose child has died.
