A vicar who is walking round the diocese as part of his sabbatical has just announced his programme and is inviting others to join him – as long as they can keep up!
The Revd Canon Simon Moor, vicar of St Peter's Huddersfield, set off to walk between the Greater Churches and Cathedrals of our diocese last month as the first part of his Sabbatical. Now, after Holy Week, he will attempt to walk the perimeter of the whole dicose – around 360 miles.
He expects the walk to take him 17 days and has drawn up a programme for those who have expressed an interest in joining him on part of the way.
He will set off from Warland Reservoir on April 4 to walk to Marsden Top – about ten miles – with the option of adding on a further eight miles to Holme.
“This is about finding my own way, walking my own path. Walking has always allowed me the space in my head and my heart to get closer to God,” said Simon.
“When I walk, everything is unpacked, emptied and put back together again. It makes me whole,’ he said.
