The parish church in the village of Melsonby, near Richmond in the north of the diocese, has created a DVD of village life as part of its efforts to raise funds for badly needed new facilities.
The Church Council at St James Church is currently embarking on an ambitious project to install toilet and kitchen facilities in the church and reorder the interior to make it more usable by the community as a whole. It currently provides a home for the village stock of library books.
It’s hoped the imaginative video will go some way to raising the tens of thousands of pounds which will be needed. It has been created by local film-maker, Ian Black of Dunelm Video, and last week the video was launched and 40 copies were snapped up at the local pub and garden fete.
