A young singer from Wakefield Cathedral's choir will be one to cheer for in the final of BBC Radio 2's Young Chorister of the Year 2019 later this month.
12-year-old Charlie Trueman is the first boy from the choir to reach the last few in the competition, while two girl choristers have secured places in the final previously.
Director of Music, Tom Moore, pictured with Charlie said: "We know it's a stiff competition, so its noteworthy for us that we have a chorister through to the finals of this competition again.
"But this too is a testament to Charlie's commitment, dedication and talent and we're all as pleased as punch for him!"
The final is at Media City, Salford on Saturday, October 19, when Charlie will compete for this year's trophy.
Each year the final features the best four boys and the best four girl choristers and one boy and one girl, will receive a trophy and may be offered opportunities to appear on BBC Radio and Television programmes throughout the year, including Songs of Praise.
