Two members of a joint Anglican-Methodist church in Bingley are about to undertake a 22 mile sponsored walking challenge to raise money to develop their Victorian church building.
Anne Barraclough and Margaret Wadsworth, who say they only normally walk 5 or 6 miles at the most, will undertaking the 22 mile walk, mostly following the Dales Way from Kettlewell to Ilkley Church, via eight churches to raise funds for the Eldwick Church building project.
On their walk, the pair will visit St Mary’s Kettlewell, St Michael’s Church, Linton, St Wilfrid Church, Burnsall, Burnsall Methodist Chapel, Bolton Priory, Farfield, Friends Meeting House, St Peter’s Addingham and All Saint’s Church Ilkley.

The Eldwick Church is a single congregation, local ecumenical partnership formed in 2010 between St Lawrence Anglican Church and Eldwick Methodist Church. The money raised will go towards the ‘Building for Growth’ project which aims to raise £150,000 to build a new hall complex, linked to the church increasing seating capacity to around 150. It will provide the church with a larger, more flexible worship area as well as a café and social area.
Sue Huntington of Eldwick Church said, “Building for Growth aims to celebrate our faith, serve the wider community and realise our vision for the church to have a more central and major role within the life of Eldwick village.”
