It was a great start to Advent for the whole community in Boroughbridge when Messy Church for Advent took place at the Coronation Hall, a community centre in the town.
Organised by All Saints' Church, Kirkby Hill, children and parents took part in an afternoon of Christmas related craft activities - listening to a story, learning and rehearsing a Christmas song for the evening and having tea together.
Then with an invitation to local people they were joined for community carols by other church members and children and parents from the broader community joined for community carols at six o’clock.
A collection was for the Candlelighters charity. “The event was a great success thanks to the work of church community volunteers, and the enthusiasm shown by the children, parents and visitors,” said church member, Ric Welsby.
“We felt it was a great start to Advent for the whole community.”
