Saturday 8th October 2016
The choirs of Bradford, Ripon, and Wakefield Cathedrals will join together in song this weekend, as part of an exciting NEW festival celebrating the music and musicians of the Diocese of Leeds. A lunchtime recital featuring the three choirs takes place on Saturday at Bradford Cathedral, at 1.00pm. Admission is free. Later, at 3.00pm, the choirs will sing a service of Choral Evensong together – which all are warmly welcome to attend. (Pictured right, Bradford Cathedral Choir)
Jon Payne, Assistant Director of Music at Bradford Cathedral, said: “we very much look forward to welcoming our fellow singers from Wakefield and Ripon to join us for this weekend’s Festival. It’s a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the music training and development which our cathedral choirs are able to offer children and young people within the Diocese. The cathedral chorister life is unparalleled, with amazing opportunities to develop and achieve, not just musically, but in terms of confidence, academic achievement, and in so many other ways. Our cathedral choirs are full of ordinary children doing extraordinary things – the chance to bring the three groups together to sing as one this weekend is something we are very much looking forward to.”
